Privacy Policy
This policy explains how UPI SoundBox handles payment notifications and transaction records in the current Android app.
1. What this app does
UPI SoundBox is an Android app that announces supported incoming payment alerts. It uses notification access to examine notifications delivered to your device from supported UPI payment apps and messaging apps that display bank credit SMS alerts. Notification access can technically expose notifications from other apps; UPI SoundBox checks the source and does not save unrelated notifications as transactions.
The app does not read your SMS inbox directly, request your UPI PIN, initiate payments, or access your bank account directly.
2. Information processed and stored
For a recognized payment, the app may store the amount, date and time, payment source, sender name or UPI ID when present, bank account suffix, transaction reference, and a short alert excerpt or technical matching fields used to detect duplicates. You can also add or edit transaction details manually.
If you enter a business name or phone number for PDF reports, those details are stored in the app and may appear in exported reports. Your language, voice, volume, connected-app choices, and other settings are also stored locally.
3. How the information is used
The app uses this information to identify incoming credits, reduce duplicate records and announcements, speak payment amounts, show transaction history, and generate reports or backups that you request. Processing and transaction matching run on your device. The current version has no app-operated account, cloud sync, advertising, or analytics service.
4. Speech and third-party services
Speech is produced through the Android text-to-speech engine installed or selected on your device. The text-to-speech provider may handle speech text under its own settings and privacy policy; an offline voice pack may be needed if you want speech without a network connection. UPI SoundBox does not control that provider's practices.
The app has Internet and network-state permissions reserved for possible future optional features, but the current payment-detection feature does not require an app-operated server. We will update this policy before introducing new network-based data uses.
5. Sharing, exports, and backups
UPI SoundBox does not automatically send transaction records to the developer. You may choose to export a PDF report or a local JSON backup, or share a PDF through Android's share options, including WhatsApp when available. The selected file location or sharing app then handles the copy under its own privacy practices. Exported files can contain sensitive payment details and are not encrypted by UPI SoundBox; store and share them carefully.
The current version does not provide automatic Google Drive backup. Android automatic cloud backup for the app is disabled.
6. Retention, security, and deletion
Transaction records and settings stay in the app's local storage until you delete a transaction, clear the app's data, or uninstall it. Android's app sandbox limits other apps' direct access to this storage. We do not claim that exported files are protected by the app after you save or share them.
You can revoke notification access in Android settings, pause announcements or disable payment sources in the app, and delete individual transactions. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling removes the local app data. Files you exported or shared must be deleted separately from their destination.
7. Children and policy changes
UPI SoundBox is intended for people managing payment receipts, not for children. We may update this policy when app features or data practices change. The updated policy will show a new effective date at the public policy URL.
8. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, use the App support contact shown on the UPI SoundBox Google Play listing.
